Ellen Shakespear is Vice President of Affordable Development at Douglaston Development, where she oversees a team focused on the execution of the Comprehensive Modernization of Saint Nicholas Houses in Harlem. The project is the largest design-build contract in NYCHA history and includes the full rehabilitation of more than 1,500 apartments, full electrification, resiliency upgrades, and resident engagement initiatives.
Ms. Shakespear has more than a decade of experience in affordable housing, architecture, and planning, with significant experience in public-private partnerships and NYCHA PACT projects. She is an AICP Certified Planner and a USGBC LEED Green Associate. In addition to her professional work, she volunteers with Shorewalkers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting public access to New York City’s waterfronts.
Ms. Shakespear earned a B.A. in Architecture from Princeton University and dual master’s degrees in Architecture and City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
