Steven Charno

Steven Charno is President of Douglaston Development. Mr. Charno joined the company in 2003 and is responsible for overseeing the development of the Company’s market-rate residential projects. During his tenure, he has facilitated the development of more than 3,000 units of residential housing in Manhattan and Brooklyn, including luxury condominiums, market rate rentals, and affordable housing projects. Most recently, Mr. Charno spearheaded the development of 3Eleven, a one million square foot mixed-use/multifamily building in West Chelsea, including 938 rental units, of which 235 are permanently affordable. 

As a co-leader of the Executive Management team, Mr. Charno shares responsibility in the company’s investment strategy, retail leasing, and asset management, as well as shaping company policies and strategies.  

Prior to joining Douglaston Development, Mr. Charno served as Vice President and General Counsel at the Related Companies for the development of the AOL Time Warner Center Project at Columbus Circle. Mr. Charno began his career as a transactional real estate attorney and was a partner and Executive Committee member of the San Francisco-based real estate firm of Landels Ripley and Diamond, LLP. Mr. Charno currently serves on the Housing and Land Use Committees of the Real Estate Board of New York. 

Mr. Charno holds his B.A. from Brandeis University and his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
