Ambitious Mixed-Use Project in Williamsburg

The EDGE represents one of the largest and most ambitious new construction mixed-use projects in New York City. Taking advantage of the pioneering young market of Williamsburg, the project occupies over seven prime acres along the East River that was a vacant commercial site prior to development. The EDGE was part of large scale redevelopment that included not only 565 condominium units, but also affordable housing, rental housing, parking, retail, two waterfront piers with on-site water taxi service, 35,000 square feet of public park space, and a riverside esplanade that adjoins waterfront parks to the north and south. All public spaces were built to the standard of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. The EDGE splits residences between two towers on the East River waterfront. The project has over 40,000 square feet of amenities shared between the two towers, which include an indoor/outdoor pool, an indoor basketball court, a golf simulator and spa facilities. Each tower also has its own fitness center and screening room. Additionally, the EDGE has 60,000 square feet of community retail, including a grocery store. The project benefitted from a 421 (a) tax abatement as a result of developing 347 moderate-income affordable housing units as a part of the Greenpoint-Williamsburg Inclusionary Housing Program. The project was certified as LEED Gold.
